Hawaii Artist Collaboration

The Hawaii Artist Collaboration has invited Joyful to return in 2024 to take part in the Hawaii Artist Collaboration and Benefit Auction Event.

The Benefit Auction will Happen on November 9th, 2024

The Hawaii Artist Collaboration is non-profit 501 C3 dedicated to the power of cooperation and collaboration amongst artists , arts organizations , and educators with the goal of creatively facing the challenges of the future. They sponsor an annual gathering that bring as many of these people together as possible , as well as special events during the year that can be shared throughout our island community.

The Premier event is the Annual COLLAB! Gathering. This event was conceived as a gathering place where kupuna and master artists can recharge and reinvigorate their work through a sharing of knowledge and skills. Hawaiian meets international and contemporary artists from as many as 14 different media, and the results of 4 days of making together are available at an auction immediately following the event. People leave collab with bothe new energy and connections to take back into their own communities where the next generation can benefit from the recharged teachers.

Artist Show @ Annapolis Marine Art Gallery

Join us at the Annapolis Marine Art Gallery in beautiful downtown Annapolis, MD for a live painting demonstration from 1pm-4pm, followed by a reception at 5pm. Artist Residency @ Mystic Seaport Museum

Come visit Joyful at her temporary studio during her Artist Residency at the Mystic Seaport Museum.

She will be working on a special project inspired by a trip to Tonga in the fall of 2023 to study Humpback Whales.

This residency is sponsored by the Center for American Marine Art.

The Center for American Marine Art is dedicated to bringing endangered historic American marine art to the forefront of our identity as a country through documenting and imaging works using the most advanced cultural heritage technology and techniques, creating a free database featuring high-resolution 3D images for use by museums, scholars and the public, and developing virtual and national traveling exhibitions

Carl C. Cutler Society Gala

In collaboration with the Mystic Seaport Museum, I'll be in attendance as the featured artist for a special gala event thanking some of the Museum's biggest donors. During the event I'll be giving an artist talk, doing some live painting, and donating an artwork for the event. The painting will be given as a thank you to one lucky donor who has generously supported maritime and marine conservation for many years through the Museum.

Artist Residency

For the Month of July, I'll be returning to beautiful Mystic, CT to be an artist in residence with the Mystic Seaport Museum. During the Residency, I'll be living on a historic vessel anchored in the marina and have a studio space in the boat workshop building across from the ship the Joseph Conrad. During this time I will be working on some paintings from my diving experiences with sharks from this past year, and planning a future collection of works featuring humpback whales. On my down time, you might just find me doing some plein air painting around the museum grounds.
