My first memory and dream as a young girl was swimming underwater with whales. The chance to be in the water with these magnificent creatures has been one of the greatest dreams of my life - and now its actually happening.

Last year, the Stobart Foundation awarded me an artist grant to help fund this once-in-a-lifetime trip. This experience will allow me to encounter whales in an intimate way, to photograph them for reference materials, and to curate a special collection of whale-themed artworks for future museum and gallery exhibitions. I've researched whale guides for many years, and am thrilled to join world class photographer, diver, and conservationist Nadia Aly and her crew at Humpback Swims Company for this trip.
